Marie Denise Claude, the Minister for the Status of Women and Women's Rights (MCFDF) launched a socio-economic integration program for girls-mothers who have dropped out of school prematurely because of their pregnancy and who are in a situation of great vulnerability, in order to make them autonomous and improve their living conditions.

Minister Claude explains that this three-year program provides  to learn a man,ual trande for free to about 9,000 young girls-mothers in total, aged between 16 and 25 years old in promising sectors (computer, chained masonry, electricity, laying of tiles, plumbing, kitchen, hospitality...)

According to the Minister, this program responds to the need of these young women who suffer from all the evils characterizing the extreme poverty in which they floundered for decades adding that with this program "they will be able to work and earn their living in respect and dignity" deploring "There are too many to be unable to learn a trade and to suffer the effects of unemployment."

The Minister confirms that the Ministry has already signed contracts with professional centers under this program, which is expected to start in January 2017 initially in the West epartment (Croix-des-Bouquets, Carrefour, Pétion-Ville) before spread throughout the national territory.

Regarding the admission criteria young women beneficiaries must have: obtained the certificate of the 9th fundamental year, prove that they are the mother of at least one child and have a person or an organization as reference. A Commission is responsible for analyzing the dossiers and forwarding them to the various institutions included in this program.

The Minister calls on feminist organizations and civil society to identify these young mother, in order to propose files corresponding to the expectations of the program.
