500 more prisoners, soon released

As part of the Fight Against Extended Pre-Trial Detention, Jean Danton Léger, the Port-au-Prince Government Commissioner confirmed that approximately 500 prisoners will be released before 31 December in addition to the 250 detainees released on Monday 12 December .

André Michel fears violence

Next International Conference of the Bars in Haiti

Friday, at the end of the 31st annual congress of lawyers from countries with a common legal tradition, held in Yaoundé (Cameroon), which gathered 1,200 lawyers from 37 countries, Haiti won the right to organize the 32nd annual congress of this corporation after a vote. Me Stanley Gaston, the President of the Order of Lawyers Port-au-Prince, who led a delegation of 26 lawyers, was elected by acclamation to the Board of Directors of the International Conference of Bar Associations (CIB) of countries with a common legal tradition.

Haiti at the World Summit of the Partnership

Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, participated in the World Summit of the Partnership for an Open Government (7-9 dec.). The major challenge of the Paris Summit this year was to demonstrate that open government has a very concrete impact on the lives of citizens and on the way democracy works. The new summit brought together thousands of participants, representing States, parliaments, local authorities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector.
