Haiti - FLASH : Threat against the Péligre Hydroelectric Generating Station

Repeated blackouts and the scarcity of electricity in the Central Plateau exceed the population that is tired of its problems being ignored by the Central Government.

Information is circulating about a possible action against the installations of the Electricity of Haiti (EDH) imed at interrupting the operation of the Péligre hydroelectric plant, if the authorities do not meet the demands of the population and the electrical situation does not back to normal in the Central Plateau.

Note that if the population were to act, a large part of Port-au-Prince would be deprived of electricity.

Informed of the situation, the deputy of the Centre Abel Descollines, First Secretary of the Lower House does not take lightly these threats and confirms having written to the Government, to intervene with the leaders without waiting, in order to find a solution to these blackouts and prevent the situation from degenerating and causing serious consequences in Port-au-Prince.
