Haiti - Technology : Telephony, the competition in figures (2016)

The Observatory of the Telecommunications Market set up by the Direction of Prospective and Economic Affairs (DPAE) of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL) within the framework of its mission published the main indicators retained by the DPAE to follow the evolution during the period from January 2016 to September 2016 of the two main telephony operators (Digicel and Natcom). These data were collected from operators pursuant to Decision # OE-CNT-DEC20130005 of 2 August 2013, which obliges all telephony operators to transmit the statistical data of their operations to CONATEL.

DIGICEL - NATCOM, the figures (January 2016 to September 2016) :

On average, a net increase in the number of subscribers of 0.06% (1,586) was recorded during the period analyzed. A 0.58% increase in the number of subscribers is recorded for Natcom (3,402 subscribers) and a decrease of 0.04% (1,817) in Digicel's subscriber base for the period analyzed.

The total number of subscribers in the telephony fleet amounted to 6,354,016.

The average penetration rate of mobile telephony during the period is 61.09%.

The average penetration rate of mobile telephony prepaid is 60.37% and that of post paid is 0.72% during the period.

The average penetration rate of Natcom for the period is 16.34% and that of Digicel for the period is 44.75%.

Natcom occupies 26.41% of the market while Digicel occupies 73.59% for the last month of the study.

The average market share of operators is 26.73% for Natcom and 73.27% for Digicel.

Subscribers used on average 63.13 "Minutes On Net".

The users of the Natcom speak on average 106 minutes between them per month and those of the Digicel on average 44 minutes between them.

Natcom users speak an average of 4 minutes per month with those of the Digicel and Digicel users speak an average of 1 minute per month with those of the Natcom. These data show us that the majority of users have two mobile phones.

It was found an average loss of 1.42% of traffic (in minutes) incoming international during the period, corresponding to a value of 580.059 minutes.
