As part of the road police's efforts to prevent traffic accidents and speeding, especially during the holiday season, the Traffic Department of the Road Police (DCPR) deployed a little more than a week ago the 6 portable radars it owns on national roads #1, #2 and #3. In addition to its radars, the Traffic Department of the Road Police (DCPR) has mobilized its (reduced) staff who are assisted by the units of the National Police of Haiti.

While speeding is one of the causes of accidents, the deplorable state of some vehicles is mostly involved. However, the traffic inspection department has been dysfunctional for years and is limited to superficial visual inspections, which is expected to change dramatically in 2017, we have been informed.

In addition, drinking and driving is the cause of many accidents. To this end, the police have purchased several devices to test the level of alcohol in the blood of drivers, but for lack of legal provisions, these devices can not be used... Only a ticket for dangerous driving can punish a driver driving into drunkenness...
