Haiti - FLASH : Electoral violence, the town hall of Marigot burnt down 01/01/2017 12:04:02
The Mayor of the commune René Danneau confirmed "Unidentified individuals set fire to the building [...] There is nothing left" deploring that because of the lack of staff of the Commissariat, although alerted of the events, the police could not intervene effectively to prevent the drama. In addition, he confirmed that a discotheque was also burnt down and two other houses damaged by fire. Also late at night, the house of the deputy mayor of the commune was attacked and suffered many damage, following stone throwing. Without being able to identify the perpetrators of these criminal acts, he indicated that he would cooperate fully with the police and the judiciary in the investigation, so that the perpetrators would be identified and punished by law, with the utmost rigor.
