Gary Desrosiers, the assistant spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), said yesterday in a press briefing that arrangements have been made in all departments to ensure public safety during the end of year holiday season. He said the police had received new vehicles and the officers of the Intervention Brigade Motorized (BIM) are also ready to intervene if necessary.

Concerning the robbery of the food depot in Carrefour neighborhood Mahotière 79, last Monday, by 6 gunmen where 4 people were killed by gunfire, the spokesman indicated that an investigation was ongoing and that investigators are on traces of the bandits.

In addition, Gary Desrosiers, said that 513 cases were treated by the PNH during the period from December 1st to 15 which have led to the arrest of 485 persons for various offenses including 6 for rape.
