Haiti - Technology : Inauguration of a solar power plant for the Champ-de-Mars 07/02/2017 08:46:11
The ceremony was attended by Ministers Jacques Evelt Eveillard (Public Works) and Marc Aurele Garcia (Communication) by Claude Prepptit, Director General of the Office of Mines and Energy, the Principal Mayor of Port-au-Prince Youry Chevry and his Deputy and Pierre Bonneau, Representative of the World Bank in Haiti. "We can not develop a country without energy" recalled the representative of World Bank. Minister Eveillard considered that the finalization of this project "is an important step in the development and strengthening of the energy sector in Haiti", advocating for the multiplication of projects of this kind in the country in order to promote sustainable development in the sector of energy. After cutting ribbons, Jocelerme Privert made a guided tour of the various solar panel installations of this new power plant. Learn more about the project : The solar panels as well as the electrical accessories are secured on the roof of the Ciné Triomphe. The photovoltaic component consists of 336 modules of 305 W each, providing a total power of 102.5 kW. This will reduce the carbon footprint on the environment by about 120 tonnes per year. The solar panels are coupled with the latest-generation lithium-ion Intensium® Max 20E containerized energy storage system. This installation will store the energy captured by the solar panels during the periods of sunshine to feed the entire Champ-de-Mars day and night. The autonomy offered by this assembly is estimated at 38h.
