Haiti - Politics : The relocation of passport services, in progress

As part of the program for the reform and restructuring of the organs and services of the Directorate of Immigration and Emigration (DIE), the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government informs the general public that it has started since nearly a month of works to rehabilitate 3 spaces, to allow the deconcentration and relocation of the services of documents fillingand delivery of passports (Tabarre, Lamarre / Center-ville and Diquini / Carrefour) hitherto offered only to DIE Central Office at John Brown Avenue (Lalue).

These Centers will receive the various requests of the passport applicants from the documents legally required and the applicants will be able to withdraw their passports in these Centers. Appropriate technological facilities and equipment are already available to establish links between the Lalue Production Center and all the Regional Centers.

The aim of this decentralization effort are aimed in particular: to provide a local service to taxpayers; To neutralize the scarcity that feeds the parallel market that penalizes customers and to respect international standards that prohibit any form of promiscuity at the places of production of passport.

Remember that the Ministry of the Interior has just rehabilitated and commissioned a new office in Jérémie and another in Miragoâne. In addition, 3 more new offices are being completed in Saint-Marc, Gonaïves and Hinche.
