Thursday, Raquel Pelissier, elected 1st runner-up at the Miss Universe 2017 contest https://www.haitilibre.com/article-19952-haiti-flash-miss-haiti-elue-1ere-dauphine-a-miss-univers.html , under the applause of family members, friends and other guests, was led to the Diplomatic Lounge where she was officially welcomed by Ministers Marc-Aurèle Garcia (Culture), Pierrot Délienne (Foreign Affairs), Marie Denise Claude (Status of Women) and Didier Hyppolite (Tourism) who welcomed her on behalf of President Jovenel Moïse.

Minister Garcia hailed the dynamism and excellence of Raquel "[...] Haiti is proud of you. You have dignifiedly exposed the colors and the pride of Haiti on an international scale."

After this warm welcome, Raquel Pelissier moved, was received at the National Palace by the President of the Republic, Jovenel Moïse and his wife Martine. During this meeting she was appointed Goodwill Ambassador of Cultural and Tourism Affairs of Haiti, by President Moïse.
