Haiti - World Cup 2017 : The Grenadiers late due to the Privert Government...

As part of the 2017 Concacaf Championship, qualifier for the FIFA World Cup whose the final round will take place in South Korea, the Haitian men's U-20 selection will finally leave Haiti on 16 February to Costa Rica with 15 days late.

Carlo Marcelin, the General Secretary of the Haitian Football Federation (FHF), confirmed the difficulties faced by the FHF in completing the trip to Costa Rica since 1 February according to the program https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19809-haiti-football-the-grenadiers-u-20-training-camp.html . He explained that the promises made to the young Grenadiers by the Privert Government were not kept and the Federation had to manage to raise the necessary funds, specifying that everything had not been finally settled for this trip...

Consequently, the U-20 National Team and the technical team had to do with a modest preparation by playing friendly matches against local clubs. Good news, the return to play of aptain Odilon Jerome who was wounded.

Should be noted that in the Concacaf 2017 Championship, our Grenadiers are part of Group B with St Kitts & Nevis, Panama and the United States. They will start the competition on 18 February at the Stadio Ricardo Saprissa Ayama against St Kitts & Nevis before facing the Americans on 21st and Panamanians on 24th February in the group matches.

At the end of the Championship, the 4 best selections will represent the Concacaf zone at the FIFA World Cup in South Korea, from 20 May to 17 June.
