Haiti - Politic : Jovenel Moïse made an agricultural tour in the South
Tuesday, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his wife Martine and his Chief of Cabinet, Wilson Laleau visited several agricultural enterprises in the department of the South.

Early in the morning, the Head of State visited the Agri-Supply Co S.A., specialized in the exploitation of vetiver in Haiti and led by Pierre Léger. Despite a decline in activity, Agri-Supply remains the largest plant for vetiver, accounting for about 80% of global production and 50% of the international perfume market.

Subsequently Moïse also visited the Unikode firm specializing in the distillation of vetiver oil, treatment of rainwater and the conversion of biomass into energy and insisted that the State supports companies around vetiver in order to encourage production.

Later that day in Torbeck, the Head of State, in the presence of the Deputy of Torbeck, Hervé Charles and the Mayor of the commune, Mrs. Guildie Joseph, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and notables of the commune participated in the distribution of 1,800 bags of 100 pounds of fertilizer to the planters of this commune. Through his presence, Jovenel Moïse wanted to ensure that the distribution was transparent and fair, for the benefit of the farmers.

He took the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to agriculture and promised his full support to local authorities. He insisted that priority should be given to land irrigation, construction and drainage of roads in the Torbeck plain. "I want the plains of Haiti to produce at least 12 tonnes of rice per hectare," citing several successful countries with agriculture. To make this a reality in Haiti, he urged growers and farmers to come together and form cooperatives to facilitate the development of their projects.
