Saturday, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by his wife Martine, participated in the Occident Jeanty Kiosk, Champ de Mars, at the national funeral of former President of Haiti René Préval.

The funeral ceremony was attended by the wife of former President Preval, Mrs. Elisabeth D. Préval, children and family members, Presidents of both Houses of Parliament, Youri Latortue and Cholzer Chancy, Prime Minister Appointed Jack Guy Lafontant, the Secretary General of the International Organization of la Francophonie, Michaëlle Jean, former Heads of State, former Prime Ministers, parliamentarians, members of the Government, the Legislative Power, the Diplomatic and consular bodies, political organizations and civil society, rural organizations, the private business sector, international and religious organizations, representatives of CASEC and ASEC, and thousands of citizens.

"I must admit this morning that to have to say farewell to you is a moment of great sadness and deep emotion," said Jovenel Moïse, who praised the advice of the late President, his simplicity, his spirit of dialogue and of compromise, the example of his disinterestedness and all the services he has rendered to the Nation.

"Democrat convinced, we know what the Nation owes to our late President. His profound knowledge of Haitian political realities made him, the most remarkable politician of our time. During his two terms, René Préval managed to maintain a certain balance in Haitian political life," continued President Moïse , who took the opportunity to present his deepest sympathies to Mrs. Préval.
