Haiti - Health : Certifying Training of Food Safety Instructors
The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), together with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the FSPCA (Alianza de Controles Preventivos de Inocuidad de Alimentos), with the technical support from Texas Tech University and NSF, a food safety advisory firm, organized a course at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to train and certify leading Instructors capable of meeting the international standards of protection and safety required by food importing countries, in particular the FSMA in the United States.

A group of 42 technicians, agro-industrial contractors, consultants and exporters from Costa Rica, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic participated in the training. This group has been certified as training instructors (Training of Trainers) in Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).
