Haiti - Culture : Quinzaine of the Francophonie 2017 (Program)
From 16 to 28 March, will take place the Quinzaine de la Francophonie in Haiti. The French Embassy in Haiti, long-time partners of this event and its network, will mobilize again to contribute to its success. Cinema, music, theater and French competitions will take place at the French Institute in Haiti (IFH) as well as in the five French Alliances of the country.

PROGRAM:

THEATER - Cyrano Project Tour (March 16-23) :
After Molière in 2016, the French cultural network in Haiti proposes to you to discover or rediscover the masterpiece of Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac: one of the most famous plays of the French repertoire. Coming from France, the Compagnie «Face Nord» will be on tour in the five French Alliances of Haiti as well as in Port-au-Prince to offer 7 performances of a Cyrano revisited!

"Cyrano project" by Caroline Boisson with Jérôme Sauvion: March 16 at the IFH, March 17 in Gonaïves, March 18 at Cap Haïtien, March 20 at FOKAL, March 21 in Jacmel, March 22 in Les Cayes and March 23 in Jérémie.

CINEMA - French Film Festival (March 20 to 28) :
The second edition of the Festival will feature a selection of 20 French-language filmmakers screened on the big screen in various locations in the capital: IFH, FOKAL, Laurier's residence, Cinémathèque de Pétionville, REV Cinéma, Yanvalou and Place Jérémie. The Festival will be dedicated this year to "Women of the World" and will showcase the work of filmmakers as well as works devoted to gender equality.

New this year: the creation of a creative laboratory in partnership with the Ciné Institute of Jacmel and the Festival OFF-Courts of Trouville-sur-Mer. Two French speakers will supervise young Haitian filmmakers in the production of short films throughout the week, which will be closed by a restitution evening.

FRENCH LANGUAGE - Dictation of the Golden Pen (March 22) :
A French competition not requiring special preparation, intended for students of the Alliances Françaises network in the world (minimum level A2).

At the same time as the 428 Alliances françaises around the world, who are participating this year at the event, the candidates of the Alliances of Cap, Jacmel, Les Cayes, Gonaïves and Jérémie will compose for 2h30 mn under the supervision of a teacher. The first laureate of the Golden Pen will be offered a week in Paris in March 2018 while Diplôme d'Honneur will be awarded to the following 100. While 6 Haitian candidates were already among the laureates, we hope that they will be even more rewarded at the end of this new edition.

MUSIC: Final of the French National Song Competition (March 23) :
National Francophone Song Contest aimed at rewarding French-speaking Haitian musicians.

Selected across the country thanks to the Alliances Françaises network, a new generation of talented young composers and performers will compete in the grand finale at the IFH in front of a prestigious jury. Famous re-releases or original compositions, the finalists of the Francophone National Song Contest will have to interpret their song live to try to win the prize for the best original composition or the prize for the best performance. The National Francophone Song Contest is organized in partnership with the Alexandre Dumas French High School, the International Organization of La Francophonie, the Embassy of Canada, the Embassy of Switzerland and the Brussels Wallonia.
