Haiti - Politics : Major projects of the Ministry of Tourism
Wednesday, Jude Alix Patrick Salomon, the new Minister of Finance proceeded to the installation of his colleague Ms. Colombe Emilie Jessy Menos to the position of Minister of Tourism (MDT). She replaces the outgoing Minister Guy Didier Hyppolite.

In her remarks for the occasion, the Minister Menos, highlighted the vision of the President Moïse and Prime Minister Lafontant and promised as stated in the General Policy Statement to pursue the promotion of the destination, the establishment of a high-level commission to draw up a master plan for the development of the tourism sector for the next 25 years and the tabling of a draft law of orientation.

The new Minister of Tourism has indicated that the government will encourage the construction of retirement villages for the Haitian diaspora. In addition, she nnounced that, in agreement with the town councils and the Boards of Communal Sections (CASEC), potential new attractions will be identified, developed and valued in the context of public-private partnerships. She also mentioned the major project to build a cable car linking Labadee to the Citadelle La Ferrière, which will be implemented in concert with the private sector.

It should be noted that prior to this position, Ms. Menos was Director of Public Relations and Secretary of State within the MDT.
