Haiti - Economy : The Cement Factory project of 300 million in Gonaïves, back in the news
After one year of studies (2014) and laying the first stone in December 2015 of the project of a new cement plant "Siman Lakay" in the locality "La Pierre" 2nd communal section of Gonaïves (Artibonite) and the announcement of the start of construction in January 2016; the silence had since fallen on this important project, which seemed forgotten for nearly 15 months...

Let's recall that the construction of the "Siman Lakay" cement plant with a capacity of close to 2 million tons of cement per year, to be built by Belgian TSE and TPF engineering, requires an investment of 300 million US dollars and will allow to fill a large part of Haiti's needs, estimated at 4.5 million tons annually. This plant is expected to eventually create more than 2,200 jobs at the main production site (workers, employees and managers of the various skilled trades who will benefit from adapted and continuous training) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-16160-haiti-economy-a-new-cement-plant-of-$300m.html

However, after this long and disturbing silence, the Senator of the Artibonite Carl Murat Cantave gives hope to this project, by revealing that he had participated this week at the National Palace in a meeting attended by a representative of the Belgian firm TSE and said that the Belgian company would present in a few days a timetable for the execution of this vast project.

To be continued...
