The Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities (MICT), urges the owners and managers of Rara Bands to work with the utmost caution in terms of the displacements of the festival-goers they are in charge, throughout their route, in order to avoid road accidents or panic movements.

The MICT calls on residents all over the national territory, to temperance, courtesy and cultivating non-violence and fraternity, during and on the margins of their participation in the various events, to enjoy pleasantly and in the safest conditions, of the Rara in particular, one of the great traditional high-cultural festivals in Haiti.

The Ministry is asking local and police authorities to reinforce the control and other preventive security measures and to deal with any incidents in the future.

The Directorate of Civil Protection was also instructed, so that at the departmental and local level, notably through the Communal Committees of Civil Protection (CCPC), a deployment could be ensured to accompany the demonstrations of the Rara Bands throughout the territory.

Finally, the Ministry of the Interior invites the population wishing to take part in the festivities of the Raras, to strictly respect the measures of the local authorities and the hygiene instructions relating to the quality of drinks including alcohol and food consumed.

The MICT wishes everyone a pleasant Easter.
