Haiti - Security : CONATEL prepares for next cyclone season

Jean Marie Altema, Director General of the National Telecommunications Council (CONATEL), organized a working session with telecommunications operators Digicel, Natcom and Access Haiti in preparation for the cyclone season.

During the discussions, the various actors stated that they had taken into account the lessons learned during the passage of Hurricane Matthew to prepare a contingency plan and agreed on the coordination of the actions to be undertaken in order to better meet the requirements of the season at risk.

The operators have undertaken to accompany the Government in these proceedings, while relying on the support and the goodwill of the population for the protection of their infrastructures, which according to them, are usually subjected to acts of sabotage...

Jean Marie Altema announced the organization of a workshop with the participation of all actors involved in risk management in Haiti, stressing that CONATEL intends to mobilize all operators of telecommunications services (radio, television, telephony mobile, internet etc...) in order to better accompany the population during the next season.
