Haiti - Security : Towards a massive military strengthening of the Dominican border

On the sidelines of the passport delivery ceremony to Haitians, on April 28, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20752-haiti-flash-distribution-of-passports-and-other-documents-in-dr.html through the Program of Identification and Documentation of Haitian Immigrants (PIDIH) at the Embassy of Haiti in Santo Domingo, Antonio Rodrigue, Minister of Foreign Affairs questioned by the local press on the migration of Haitians after the departure of the Minustah in October, said there will be no wave of Haitian migrants in DR following the departure of the Minustah.

A declaration in line with what the Minister Rodrigue had said earlier while wanting to reassure the Dominican Chancellor Miguel Vargas on his fears of a wave of Haitian migrants https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20790-haiti-dr-towards-the-restructuring-of-the-bilateral-joint-commission.html assuring him that the National Police of Haiti (PNH) was able to ensure security in the country after the departure of the Minustah...

Forgetting perhaps that the Dominican concern is founded, when we know that from Monday April 17 to 23 Dominican migration services have returned to Haiti, nearly 7,000 Haitians trying to enter illegally in Dominican territory... while the Minustah is there and the PNH does nothing...

General Ruben Darío Paulino Sem, Dominican Minister of Defense, who does not believe in Haiti's political statements on their ability to prevent the illegal migration of Haitian citizens, announced yesterday that in a joint operation with the CESFRONT (Cuerpo Especializado de Seguridad Fronteriza) more than a thousand soldiers of the Dominican armed forces will be deployed as reinforcements along the border with Haiti, just before the departure of the Minustah from the neighboring country, to prevent the massive illegal entry of Haitians. He also indicated that he is preparing a call for tenders to equip the various border control points.
