Haiti - Politics : 20 years of fruitful cooperation Wallonia-Haiti 05/05/2017 10:58:18 Several Haitian artists will be invited to Wallonia and Brussels during this year to the demand of Haitian cultural operators, artists from Wallonia-Brussels will perform on Haitian stages. This event will also be decentralized at the Center Wallonie-Bruxelles in Paris (for the International Day of La Francophonie and the Festival francophonie Métissée) and at the Théâtre des Doms in Avignon. Recall that in addition to the many projects supported in the past 20 years in many areas of governance, libraries, medical services nearby, environmental protection, road construction safety and vocational training and techniques for socio-professional integration of young people in Haiti, in different fields, should be noted in particular, the important cooperation in the field of culture and cultural enterprises. The Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI) cultural cooperation aims at the professionalization and mobility of artists, the institutional strengthening of artistic training structures and the consolidation of cultural structures. An emphasis is placed on the enhancement of traditional music, strengthening the capacities of the National School of Arts (ENARTS) in Port-au-Prince with Belgian teaching missions from the National School of Visual Arts (La Cambre), of the École Le 75, and the reinforcement of the theater training structures in a partnership led by the Conservatoire de Liège with the Atelier Soleil in Cap Haïtien and the ENARTS, the reinforcement of the skills of the professionals of the song and the development of a sustainable cultural dynamic around books and reading for Haitian youth. WBI also supported in 2015 and 2016 a program of training of young photographers, videographers and graphic designers realized with Gaël Turine, Loïc Delvaux and Chiqui Garcia. This project helped to strengthen the publishing capacities of photographers and graphic designers by creating a collaborative platform on the Web and by supporting the creation of the first issue of a paper magazine "Frontière(s)". Finally, as part of its NGO co-financing program, WBI has also been indirectly involved in various projects in Haiti in the areas of employment, education, youth, children's rights, trade unionism and social protection.
