Haiti - Politics : Emergency aid to the West municipalities affected by the rains
Thursday, under instructions from President Jovenel Moïse and Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, Rudolph Saint-Albin, the Minister of the Interior and Local Government, accompanied by his Director General Fednel Monchery and the Departmental Technical Coordinator of Civil Protection, Nadia Lochard, proceeded to the delivery of emergency kits and tillage equipment, to the Mayors of major cities of the West department and its surroundings, affected by bad weather at the end of April.

In order to respond to some 3,500 affected families, more than 5,000 food kits, products related to personal hygiene, several hundred wheelbarrows, picks, rakes, shovels, among others, were distributed in the communes of Cabaret, Arcahaie, Cité Soleil, Tabarre, Port-au-Prince, Carrefour, Pétion-Ville, Kenscoff, Léogâne and Delmas, in order to assist families affected by these regions in solidarity with the National Federation of Mayors of Haiti FENAMH).

In a press briefing, the Minister of the Interior, who deplored the loss of 4 lives and the damage done to the habitat, agriculture and some infrastructure that left people deprived of water and food, indicated that this distribution responds to the urgency of the moment, precedes a series of interventions, in particular by the Ministries of Public Works, Health and Agriculture, in order to provide more structuring and lasting responses to this situation.
