Haiti - FLASH : Moïse replaces the Director General of the UCREF

President Jovenel Moïse replaced Sonel Jean-Francois, the current Director General of the Central Financial Intelligence Unit (UCREF), who was behind the investigation report sent to the Port-au-Prince prosecutor's office, who was involving him in a supposed manipulation of funds and money laundering, allegations that Moïse always denied, claiming that this report had been mounted to harm him.

One can not prevent to get closer this replacement with Donald Trump's decision to dismiss James Comey, the FBI's chief boss, who was investigating the matter of Russian interference, possibly leading to the involvement of the American President...

Sonel Jean-Francois, who has been in office for a little less than a year of a term of 3 years, was replaced by former Inspector General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and Deputy Protector of citizens, Fritz Jean. However, his installation planned yesterday Thursday was postponed "sine die" without explanation...

Pierre Espérance, the Executive Director of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights (RNDDH), denounces this change, made as part of the law on the organization and operation of the Central Intelligence Unit voted this week https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-20904-haiti-news-zapping.html which has just been voted this week (coincidence ?) and gives the power to the Head of State to replace at his will the Director General of this institution, yet independent.
