Haiti - Spain : Inauguration of the Hispano-Haitian Chamber of Commerce
Monday, May 8, 2017, at the Embassy of Haiti in Madrid (Spain), Antonio Rodrigue, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Haiti, inaugurated the Hispano-Haitian Chamber of Commerce, created last March at the initiative of the French businesswoman of Galician origin, Isabel Noriega, who stressed that the objective was to develop economic, commercial and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. "We decided to create a Chamber of Commerce, a tool that allows all the Haitian and Spanish companies that do business together to benefit from the economies of the two countries [...] The ultimate goal is to be a meeting point between Spain and Haiti," beyond the purely economic and commercial aspect explained Isabel Noriega.

"I remember very well that at the charity dinner [organized at the Embassy in November 2016, to help the victims of Matthew] that Isabel Noriega had raised this idea of Chamber of Commerce," recalled Antonio Rodrigue, who was at the time the Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of Haiti in Madrid "I strongly support this initiative because it is the best way to promote not only relations but also to do something very practical for Haiti and for Spain to find opportunities."

In this sense, Rodrigue said, at a meeting held on the same day in Madrid with the Spanish Chancellor Alfonso Dastis "We are convinced that the dynamism and courage of Isabel will be able to exploit the potential of Haiti, wWhose trade offers many opportunities for Spain."
