Haiti - Politics : PM salute the memory of a man of conviction
Prime Minister Lafontant :
Following the death last Saturday of the former Senator Turneb Delpé, Coordinator of "Mouvement Patriotique Populaire Dessalinien" (MOPOD) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21065-haiti-politics-former-senator-turneb-delpe-coordinator-of-mopod-passed-away.html the Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant "salute the memory of a man of conviction"

"Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant has learned with dismay the death of the great political leader and former senator of the Republic, Dr. Turnep Delpé, founder of the National Democratic Party Progressive Haitian (PNDPH).

A man of conviction, a tenacious, passionate and straightforward militant, Tunep Delpé devoted his whole life to the establishment of democracy and the rule of law in Haiti. He advocated for more than 30 years the holding of a National Conference, to which he had remained attached until his last days.

Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant salutes the memory of an exemplary politician, a great figure of democratic movements, a humble man who is committed to moral values.

He takes this opportunity to extend his heartfelt condolences to his family, his relative, his fellow fighters, the MOPOD and the entire political class affected by this tragic disappearance."

Jean André Victor National Coordinator of MOPOD :
The MOPOD is in mourning. The MOPOD is in tears [...] Pépé fell with his arms in his hand. From New York being weakened and ill he gave us his opinion of everything that moves, while his positions never contradicted the man of conviction that he always was.

'Mr. National Conference' has left the scene but the theater of life in society continues. He understood that the will to live together needed a second breath to strengthen itself. Like the Prophet Moïse of whom the Holy Scriptures speak, he will not have seen the Promised Land. But he put the tree of the National Conference in the ground which will eventually produce the fruits expected despite the rigors of the political weather. The PNDPH (National Democratic Party Progressive Haitian) lost its Leader. The MOPOD lost a General. The Haitian state has lost a visionary. The Nation lost a fighter.

The permanence is decreed at the headquarters of the MOPOD where the militants, friends and sympathizers will be received every day. A Political Party and a Patriotic Vigil will be organized respectively on 1st and 2nd June 2017 to pay him a well deserved tribute [...]

On behalf of all the political parties, political groups and political organizations affiliated to the MOPOD, the Board of Directors of this institution presents its sincere condolences to his wife Marie Marthe St Cyr, his son Jonathan Joseph Delpé, his eight brothers and sisters and all the families afflicted by this mourning."

Former Prime Minister Evans Paul :
Former Prime Minister Evans Paul from Brazil expresses his deep sadness following the news of the death in New York of his wrestling comrade, Dr. Turneb Delpé.

"[...] Evans Paul salute the departure of a revolutionary hardened, a militant of the vanguard and a model of political conviction [...] it calls for the mobilization of the political leaders and political activists of the country, to pay a well-deserved tribute to the flagship of the idea of the organization of a national sovereign conference, in order to better live together in Haiti.

Evans Paul expresses his sincere condolences to Marie Marthe his wife, the entire Delpé family, his close fellow fighters, especially his biological brothers and sisters in Haiti and the diaspora who have always supported Turneb's political commitment, during his long and difficult years of struggle for the triumph of the ideals of freedom and well-being of the Haitian people, for whom he devoted his whole life."

The former Prime Minister has decided to shorten his stay in Brazil, in view of his participation in the funeral of his very late Comrade de Combat
