Haiti - Education : Wage increase of 20 to more than 30% for teachers
Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education who answered the questions asked by members of the Education Committee of the Senate on issues affecting the education sector, especially on wage demands confirmed that teachers of the public will benefit from a wage increase of between 20% and 30% effective from the beginning of the new fiscal year (October 2017). He said that this issue had been discussed in consultation and had been endorsed by the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Economy for the amount of these increases and for the timetable.

Minister Cadet stressed that for teachers in the first two year of fundamental, the increase will exceed 30% due to particularly low wages of this category of teachers, who provide full-time work...

Members of the Senate Committee have taken note of this formal commitment, ensuring that they will follow very closely the progress of this case.
