Haiti - FLASH : 5 Haitians at the world championship of taekwondo

This Wednesday 14 June at Muju (North Jeolla Province, South Korea), will open the 23rd edition of the World Taekwondo Championships. For the 7th time, Haiti will participate in this high level competition.

The Haitian team trained by Lewis Andrew Jason includes 5 Taekwondoists : men Rodney Mondelus (-80kg), Mackenson Altidor (-54kg) and Angelo Emacin (-74kg) and 2 women Nahomy Jean (-54kg) and Cheyenne Lewis (-62kg)

In addition to the World Championship, the Haitian team will participate this year in the international championship in San José (Costa Rica) from 28 to 31 August 2017 and to the 25th edition of the National Championship in Les Cayes from 13 to 18 October.

It will not be easy for our Taekwondo Haitians to win a medal, the Koreans dominating this competition, won the medals for 22 years... But the important thing is to participate with the best in the world and who knows... everything can happen for Haiti...

Taekwondo is a martial art of South Korean origin. It is distinguished from other martial arts, in its form, by the high degree of specialization of its practitioners in techniques of kicks much more than in other techniques, by the numerous protections used during the combat competitions and that it is the only Olympic sport in combat that allows strikes with the foot.
