Haiti - FLASH : Rough sea, call for caution

The Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) calls on seafarers, fishermen, cabotage operators and practitioners of nautical sports and leisure activities to exercise caution due to the rough sea conditions expected on all Haitian coasts. Users using small boat will have to exercise extra caution on the high seas, especially on the southern coast of Haiti, where the sea will be agitated or even strong, according to the Marine Hydrometeorological Unit's (UHM) marine forecast.

According to the UHM, the weather conditions in Haiti are influenced by a more or less active tropical wave, which was on Wednesday in the Mona Canal. The moisture associated with this wave should favor certain rain activities during its passage on Haiti.

In addition, DPC is following a disturbed weather zone, associated with a low pressure system, which was on Wednesday about 1,200 kilometers to the west / southwest of the Cape Verde Islands and which presents a strong possibility of becoming a tropical depression, by Thursday. The trajectory forecasts show that this system is not currently a danger to Haiti.
