Haiti - FLASH : Attack of a bus of Capital Coach Line, passengers stripped

Saturday afternoon, a group of 9 individuals armed with machetes blocked the RN1 by erecting a barricade of rocks in the area called "Ciment d’Haïti" forcing to stop a bus from the Capital Coach Line which carried American missionaries before investing the vehicle and stripping the passengers of their money, about 40 US dollars, then they went down, cleared the road before fleeing and let the bus resume its route.

The information was confirmed by Roosevelt Jean-François, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Coach Line, who was informed of the incident and immediately alerted the Haitian National Police who arrived at the scene several hours after the incident, deploring the fact that the Haitian authorities did not even contact him to have information on the incident.

He confirmed that the passengers had returned safe and sound to Port-au-Prince and that the bus had not suffered any damage.

For his part, Léon Rosard Saint-Cyr, the Secretary of State for Public Security reacting to the social networks that mentioned this attack and the ransoming of the passengers issued on Sunday in a hurry an official denial claiming that "no trace of such an incident was detected by the police units stationed on the spot or by the one dispatched to the scene since last night [Saturday]" and since then has not issued any note rectificative...

The CEO of Capital Coach Line regrets the lack of protection in Haiti, stressing that his buses have never been the object of such an attack in the Dominican Republic even in the most difficult moments on the roads, the Dominican military always ensuring the protection of his buses.

Recall that this is not the first time that Capital Coach Line is the victim of an attack in March 2015 one of its buses had already been attacked and burned down https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-13295-haiti-flash-a-bus-of-capital-coach-line-attacked-and-burned.html
