Haiti - Politics : Minister Fleurant wants to redefine cooperation with Taiwan

Tuesday, Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, met with the new Ambassador of Taiwan (Republic of China) accredited in Haiti, Guillaume Cheng-hao Hu. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21172-haiti-diplomacy-3-new-ambassadors-accredited.html

This high-level meeting took place around the redefinition of bilateral cooperation between the two republics with regard to geo-economics.

In his remarks, Minister Fleurant explained to Ambassador Guillaume Cheng-hao Hu the need to redefine cooperation between the two countries according to the priorities of the Government of Haiti. He argued in particular for long-term loans, without, however discard the granting of donations, stressing that "Haiti needs to look towards 2030 to become an emerging country, to achieve this we must focus on viable, sustainable, loan-oriented projects capable of guaranteeing sustainable development."

The Taiwanese Ambassador took note of these orientations and promised to transmit to his government the priorities of the Moïse-Lafontant Administration. In addition, he proposed to maintain donations, move towards long-term loans and also engage in cooperation on public-private partnership.
