Haiti - DR : Seizure of 2,470 packages of contraband cigarettes from Haiti 20/07/2017 09:53:36
This merchandise was discovered while the Cesfront soldiers judging the behavior of a suspicious pickup truck, ordered the driver to stop. Rather than obey, the driver chose to accelerate in an attempt to avoid military control, but a few kilometers away the vehicle became stuck and the occupants abandoned the van and fled. The soldiers then decided to bring the van to garage in town for an inspection. It was after dismantling parts of the vehicle that they uncovered the contraband in various caches. The 2,470 packages of cigarettes and the vehicle were seized and handed over to the Department of Border Intelligence Operations for transmission to the Public Prosecutor's Office. The driver and his accomplices are actively sought after.
