It was essentially about the protest initiated Monday, July 17 by Haitian traders unhappy with the way they are treated by the Dominicans military https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-21564-icihaiti-social-high-tension-at-the-binational-market-of-the-center.html demonstrations that disrupted all activities at the border.

After several hours of discussions, the authorities of the two countries made a commitment to restore calm and order at the border point of Belladère - Elías Piña. The two parties also promise to continue the exchanges in order that reign in a sustainable way, an atmosphere of conviviality between citizens on both sides of the border.

At the end of the meeting, Fednel Monchery's intervention favored the resumption of commercial activities at this point on the border, which had also been paralyzed for more than a week.
