5,500 Dominican soldiers watch the border

According to the latest available figures the security of the borders on the Dominican side is ensured by 5,500 soldiers of the Specialized Body of Terrestrial Border Security (CESFRONT). 1,000 soldiers operate in the four official border crossings (Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní and Pedernales). The remaining 4,500 are deployed in more than 100 checkpoints, randomly controlled patrols and surveillance on the rest of the border line.

Court of Cassation, 17 candidates rejected

Senator Jean Renel Sénatus, President of the Justice, Security and National Defense Commission, announces the rejection of 17 of the 32 candidates for the vacancies at the Court of Cassation. He announced the hearing of the 15 candidates on Wednesday, 2 August, and Thursday the presentation of the Commission's report to the Senate.

NOTICE to taxi-moto drivers

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security informs all taxi-motorcycle drivers to go to town halls to register their motorcycles and to withdraw their helmets and life vests from July 31 to August 8, 2017. After this date, all drivers found without helmets and vests will be subject to the penalties provided for by law.

Customs, 26 billion in revenue

The General Administration of Customs (AGD) collected, from October 2016 to June 2017, more than 26 billion gourdes out of the 32 billion planned for the current fiscal year. Port-de-Paix : NOTICE to Trucks

The Municipal Administration of Port-de-Paix published a release prohibiting the landing of freight trucks in the main arteries of the city, including the Stenio Vincent Street at peak hours (6:00 am - 6:00 pm) in order to nsure the smooth flow of traffic. This measure will apply within the next 72 hours.

A child found dead in the Massacre River

The body of a child about 11 years old was found dead in the Massacre River, between the cities of Dajabon and Ounaminthe in Haiti. The child, whose name was not revealed, floated in shallow waters. A crowd of curious Haitians watched the drama. The body was taken out of the river and taken to the hospital of Juana Méndez, so that his family could see him.
