Haiti - FLASH : Vast operation against Haitians in DR, 510 arrests !

This week, following information from the intelligence services on the location of undocumented migrants, the Directorate General of Migration (DGM) carried out a vast operation of migratory control in various localities of the province of Santiago Rodriguez (North West of the Dominican Republic).

60 inspectors and agents of the DGM with the support of dozens of soldiers of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the Dominican Army, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor of the Santiago Rodriguez Province, carried out operations in the localities of Los Tomines, La Joya, Cambelen, Fello Rosario, Villa Polín, Las Espinas, Cerro Dulce, Alto de Cana, Cruce de Maguana, Guayabal, Mejoramiento Social, El Limón and El Guano.

510 foreigners of Haitian origin were arrested during these one-day operations. After a process of identification and screening, 182 Haitian nationals, including 161 men and 21 women, some of whom were engaged in prostitution, were deported to Haiti by the Dajabón border crossing.

General Máximo William Muñoz Delgado, Director General of DGM, confirmed that these surprise operations will continue in other provinces of the national territory in order to continue to locate and deport all foreigners living in an irregular situation on Dominican territory, which contravenes the provisions of Law 285-04.
