Haiti - Economy : Foreign direct investment modest in Haiti 15/08/2017 09:39:32
The UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in its latest 2017 Report on "Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Latin America and the Caribbean" indicates that FDI investment in Haiti has remained relatively stable in the last two years 105 million in 2016 and 106 million in 2015. An investment of 90 million is expected by 2018 for 2 projects in the textile subcontracting industry of the companies MAS Holdings (Sri Lanka) and Winds Group (Hong Kong). For its part, our Dominican neighbor is emerging as the Caribbean champion in Foreign Direct Investment, capturing $2.4 billion in 2016, accounting for 49 percent of the $4.8 billion in total investment in the Caribbean (compared with $2.2 billion in 2015 and 2014). For comparison in the last 14 years, Haiti received a total of 1.2 billion in FDI. TB/ HaitiLibre
