Haiti - Diaspora : Important message from the Embassy of Haiti in DR

The Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic confirms to the Haitian community that the Dominican Republic's National Council for Migration (CNM) has approved the one-year extension of temporary residence permits granted to nearly 240,000 foreigners registered in the National Plan for the Regularization of Foreigners (PNRE) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-21624-haiti-flash-ultimate-reprieve-for-haitian-in-dr-registered-with-the-pnre.html living on Dominican territory.

According to the Minister of the Interior and the Police, Carlos Amarante Baret, instructions were given to the Directorate General of Migration (DGM), so that by August 25, a protocol allowing registered foreigners to the Plan, mostly Haitians, to complete their registration in the regularization process.

The Embassy of Haiti wishes to draw the attention of the compatriots concerned to the fact that all those who have not finalized their inscription in this final one-year polongation will be considered illegal on the Dominican territory and deported to Haiti.

In addition, the Embassy informs that the 2nd National Immigrant Survey will be carried out soon in the Dominican Republic. This survey aims to estimate the economic and socio-demographic situation of the migrant population and those of the descendants of the first generation of residents in the Dominican Republic. It will also analyze the contribution of this category to the economy of its country of origin.
