Haiti - Elections : Moïse does not respect his solemn commitments 24/08/2017 10:06:00 According to article 188 of the Electoral Decree it is stipulated "The results of the elections, once officially proclaimed by the CEP, shall be sent immediately to the President of the Republic for publication within a time limit oot exceeding one full day in the official journal of the Republic, Le Moniteur." The signatory of this declaration recalls that "at the time of taking office, the President of the Republic has sworn to faithfully respect the Constitution and the laws of the Republic, to respect and ensure respect for the rights of the Haitian people [...]" affirming "[...] in accordance with the prescriptions of the electoral legislation, the Head of State has no other choice to publish the results proclaimed by the competent independent institution. Any other behavior of his part would be tainted with unconstitutionality and would call into question the legal basis on which its own power rests."
