Haiti - DR : More than 80,000 Haitians deported in one year
On Tuesday, the Dominican authorities informed that in August 2017, more than 11,000 foreigners from Haiti, Albania, China, Cuba and Venezuela had been repatriated (5,702) or not admitted at the border (5,430).

From August 2016 to August 2017, 46,726 foreigners of 37 nationalities, mainly Haitians, who were in an irregular migration situation on the Dominican territory and 33,897 habe not be allowed to enter the territory under articles 119 and 120 of the Act 285-04 with respect to non-admission.

A report by the Directorate General for Migration (DGM) indicates that during this period, 1,190 migrant-prohibition operations were carried out throughout the national territory, where 68,305 foreigners were temporarily detained for verification and 46,726 were deported mainly by the land border of Jimaní, Elias Piña and Dajabón.

Also by air were recorded 2,650 non-admissions to Dominican territory, the expulsion of 368 foreigners and the return of 454 others, which did not respect the provisions of the Migration Act 285 to 04.

According to the report, the returnees came from Afghanistan, Albania, Germany, Argentina, Armenia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Cuba, Curaçao, Ecuador, Spain, the United States, France and Ghana (Africa), Greece, Guyana, Haiti, India, Iran, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Nepal, the Netherlands (Netherlands), Panama, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Serbia, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
