Haiti - NOTICE : ONI denies the existence of fees to obtain a CIN
Wilson Fièvre, Director General of the National Office of Identification (ONI), categorically denies rumors that people will have to pay 2,500 Gourdes to be able to make their National Identification Card.
"The Directorate informs the general public [...] that the ONI offices in the 144 communes of the country receive the citizens to give them all the services FREE because the State has not yet took disposition to put prices on these services.
The ONI General Directorate encourages all citizens to report any person who wants to charge one of the ONI's services. They can call 37 08 40 87 to denounce these people and give good information about what happened, the office where it happened, so that they are punished in accordance with what the law provides in case of fraud, theft and corruption [...]"
