Friday in the morning, the day of the return from New Yor of President Jovenel Moïse, of armed individuals wearing new military uniforms of type fatigues with inscription "Armed Forces of Haiti" and claiming to be of the Military Institution were seen near the International Airport Toussaint Louverture arousing fear and curiosity of the residents.

In a note, the Ministry of Defense wants to specify Friday afternoon "[...] that it condemns any initiative of this kind aimed at confusing and jeopardizing the future of the New Defense Force, which the country intends to rebuild on a solid basis in order to make it capable of effectively combating effects of natural disasters.

In addition, the Ministry reminds to all that the Ministry of Defense is the sole body mandated by law to implement the Government's defense policy."

These individuals explained that they came to welcome Jovenel Moïse, who during his speech to the UN forum on Thursday, renewed his determination to remobilize the Armed Forces of Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22187-haiti-flash-jovenel-moise-evokes-the-army-of-haiti-at-the-tribune-of-the-un.html claiming to have come to tell him that they are with him also to ensure his safety, without explaining how, while an imposing police device was deployed for this purpose on the spot...

No incidents have been reported in relation to these individuals who were not harassed by members of the various security units on site...
