Haiti - Economy : Solar energy, abolition of customs import duties

Tuesday, Jean Jorel Janvier, the Director General of Customs (AGD) announced that the Government had implemented in the 2017-2018 budget measures to promote the development of renewable energy in Haiti, particularly the solar sector.

Customs duties on imports of certain products related to solar energy are abolished :

List of affected products:

  • Solar pump;

  • Parts of solar pump;

  • Household solar refrigerators;

  • Parts of other types of refrigerators;

  • Wind power generators;

  • Solar generators;

  • Photovoltaic converters;

  • Solar batteries;

  • Portable solar lamps;

  • Solar water heaters;

  • Light-emitting diode lamps and tubes (LED);

  • Solar panels (photovoltaic devices);

  • Solar-powered lighting fixtures.
