Haiti - Economy : Solar energy, abolition of customs import duties

Tuesday, Jean Jorel Janvier, the Director General of Customs (AGD) announced that the Government had implemented in the 2017-2018 budget measures to promote the development of renewable energy in Haiti, particularly the solar sector.

Customs duties on imports of certain products related to solar energy are abolished :

List of affected products:

Solar pump;
Parts of solar pump;
Household solar refrigerators;
Parts of other types of refrigerators;
Wind power generators;
Solar generators;
Photovoltaic converters;
Solar batteries;
Portable solar lamps;
Solar water heaters;
Light-emitting diode lamps and tubes (LED);
Solar panels (photovoltaic devices);
Solar-powered lighting fixtures.
