Haiti - Politics : 9th Caribbean Forum on Renewable Energy
Wednesday, the 9th Caribbean Forum on Renewable Energy (CREF 2017) officially opened at the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami, Florida. For three days Ministers, investors, regional decision-makers, clean energy companies, multilateral actors, senior executives and international promoters will exchange views on how best to build world-class clean energy projects in the Caribbean.

CREF 2017, the largest annual gathering of the Caribbean energy market, includes a full day of interactive projects, excellence awards for best projects, a one-day workshop on integrating renewable energy and critical issues such as: network resilience, storage deployment, utility scale to production, smart grids, energy efficiency and the emerging role of natural gas in the Caribbean.

Evenson Calixte, Energy Technology Advisor to President Moïse attends the Forum alongside a delegation of Haitian officials from the Ministry of Public Works, Haitian Electricity and the university sector, in order to share with others countries of the region the new vision of Haiti expressed by President Jovenel Moïse, to make renewable energies one of the major axes of its energy policy during its five-year mandate. In addition to the installation of a national grid to interconnect the 10 departments of the country and the establishment of an individual solar system program in remote areas with low population density, the construction of intelligent micro-grids using mainly energies renewable energy are part of his priority strategy.

The CREF is a great showcase making it possible to present the advances made by several Caribbean countries in the field of renewable energies. During the two days of this important activity, exhibitors will allow visitors to discover the diversity of possibilities offered by clean energy and their positive impact on the environment.
