Haiti - Security : The Rwanda sends police officers in Haiti
Forty police officers have left Rwanda yesterday morning to Haiti to help rebuild the country. The group known as "Formed Police Unit (FPU)" will shortly be joined by another group of 120 police officers to form the first unit of Rwandan policemen deployed in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

The 160 women and men, equipped with light weapons and armoured vehicles will be deployed in Jérémie, the capital city of the department of Grand'Anse.

Emmanuel Gasana, the Commissioner General of Rwanda National Police, who bade them farewell, reminded the squad that they are the ambassadors and pride of their country. "You are renowned for your professionalism. I urge you to maintain an exemplary level of discipline and commitment throughout the twelve months of your stay in Haiti".

Theos Badege, the Police Spokesman, revealed that in addition to the police officers, 41 police advisors are currently present in Haiti.
