Haiti - Politic : Minister Lamur on tour of sports facilities in the Northeast
During its 2nd day of tour in the North, Régine Lamur, Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) went to Cap Haitien, Fort-Liberté and Ouanaminthe, in order to learn about the steps to be taken to strengthen the structures of departmental directorates, make the available skills more efficient, and evaluate the improvements to be made in the main sports infrastructures of the North and North-East.

This tour in the departments of Artibonite, North and North-East also aims to plan the practice of physical education in schools, the organization of school competitions and identify the redevelopments that require the sports facilities available in the departments.

During a meeting at the Departmental Direction of North-East, the Minister Lamur took note of the grievances of the employees: To equip the departmental directorates of means (technical, logistic and financial...) for the realization of field activities at the youth benefit; regularize the salary situation of many employees; use available skills; rehabilitate sports facilities and organize school sports competitions in the department in order to discover new talents in various disciplines;

In addition, the Minister, accompanied by several technical directors and coordinators, noted the poor state of St Joseph Park in Fort Liberté, and at the Ouanaminthe Sport Park, which had been used sporadically, noted the poor condition of the playing surfaces and the repairs that are necessary.

Mrs. Lamur appreciated the involvement of Mayor Etienne Louis Jacques (Fort Liberté) and Mayor Demétrius Luma (Ouanaminthe) during this inspection visit and their manfest interest for a better practice of sport in their respective regions. Better management of sports parks, the need for a legal framework, the practice of physical education and sports were mentioned.

At the Grand Pré Training Center, which welcomes young people from the North department, the Minister spoke with the manager and his staff about the importance of this training structure and mechanisms to improve the learning conditions for the benefit of young people of the North department.
