Haiti - NOTICE : Emerging Photography Scholarship, Registrations open

The Knowledge and Freedom Foundation (FOKAL), has been involved for several years in supporting the development of photojournalism and documentary photography in Haiti, through the organization of workshops, the support of collective work, journals, the organization of exhibitions and residences for young Haitian photographers.

The Fund for Emerging Photography in Haiti supports this approach by supporting individual or collective work in the longest run, as reports, made in Haiti or in its diaspora by young photographers without distinction of gender at the edge of their journey professional.

This fund is dedicated to support the realization or the continuation of a photographic project which can aim at journalistic objectives or to answer more documentary or artistic imperatives. Whatever the case, projects with social resonance will be favored. Submitted work can be a part of a larger whole.

This fund rewards projects led by photographers (and not the media) on the long run. The conceptualization and research work of these projects must be clearly explained in the application file. Of collaborations with the media and expressions of interest for dissemination are assets, but not imperatives.

The completion of two works will be supported by this fund. In addition to financial support, this scholarship includes mentoring with a photo editor or photographer.

The jury for this prize will be made up of two photography professionals: Magdalena Herrera (photo editor) and Paolo Woods (Photographer).

Applications can be submitted individually or collectively by people between 20 and 35 years old.

A financial and narrative report will be asked to the winners at the end of the project.

Registration online no later than 23 November 2017 on the FOKAL website : www.fokal.org/index.php/subventions-art-culture-5
