Day and night, firearms sow terror especially in the disadvantaged neighborhoods of Grand Ravine and 5th Avenue Bolosse in Martissant.

Residents of these neighborhoods report firings of varying caliber including bursts of automatic weapons. Those who can escape to stay safe with relatives or friends, while most others stay locked up at home, hardly going out, fearing for their lives.

Witnesses report several dead and wounded without really knowing how many and whether they are members of gangs or inhabitants of the area... No report of the situation from official sources has been made available ...

The National Police of Haiti (PNH) alerted by residents is on site but does not seem to be able so far to end the situation and restore a safe climate.
