Haiti - Politic : The 5 prerequisites for sustainable development 06/11/2017 07:47:19 In his opening remarks, Minister Fleurant called for the contribution of all relevant sectors in a participatory and inclusive approach aimed at coherence, ie the alignment with national priorities and programs of actions, in view of their validation. The Minister hoped that this workshop will lead to a pragmatic approach to the continuation of the activities undertaken for two years already. For his part, Guinea's Mamadou Diallo, Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Mission in Support of Justice in Haiti (Minujusth) and Humanitarian Coordinator and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), stressed that "The aim is to take into account the crucial link between political stability, the resolution of the humanitarian crisis and commitment to sustainable development." To this end he recalled the 5 prerequisites for sustainable development : - Poverty reduction and access to employment; - Access to basic social services; - Gender equality and protection of vulnerable groups - Resilience of populations and territories; - Improving the rule of law and decentralization. Let us recall that the 2017-2021 CDD expresses the joint will of Haiti and the United Nations to join forces in order to break the vicious circle of political and institutional instability and multidimensional poverty which has jeopardized the promotion of sustainable human development of the country for almost 30 years. The CDD also aims to contribute to strengthening the political, human, territorial and economic resilience in Haiti. Following this consultation workshop, the Steering Committee and the Integrated Coordination Office will finalize the joint work plans before submitting them for signature of the Minister of Planning and the United Nations team.
