Haiti - Tourism : The future of tourism in the North
Sunday at the Hostellerie du Roi Christophe the tourism operators of the North department responded to the invitation of the Ministry of Tourism for a morning of exchanges on the future of tourism in the region.

This meeting was chaired by Ms. Colombe Emilie Jessy Menos, the Minister of Tourism, who in her remarks underlined the tourism potential of the North and the commitment made by the Moise-Lafontant Administration to build, in order to attract more tourists to the North, a cable car linking Labadie to the Citadel.

The members of the private tourism sector, exposed the various problems related to the commune of Cap-Haitien in general and more particularly the management of the waste, the level of saturation of the city and the anarchic trade in the streets...

Minister Menos announced that her ministry was planning to launch quickly a campaign to train hotel staff (Tourism Guide-Tourism Entrepreneurship and Artisans).

Finally she specified that this type of meetings will take place periodically at the approach of two major historical dates that concern the North: the 224 years of the arrival of the First Civil Commission in the colony of Santo Domingo with Sonthonax (1793 -2018) and the bicentennial of the death of King Henri Christophe (1820-2020).
