Haiti - Politic : Taiwan favorable to a loan of $150M for the project of electrification of Haiti

Following the recent trip of 6 parliamentarians to Taiwan https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22634-haiti-politic-senator-youri-latortue-in-taiwan.html Youri Latortue , President of the Senate, who led the delegation, revealed that in the framework of project of President Moïse of electrification of Haiti, experts from Taiwan are in the country to study the feasibility of a national grid. He added that after presenting and defending the project during his stay in Asia, the Taiwanese government would have let him know that he would be in favor, as part of the bilateral cooperation, to grant a loan of 150 million US dollars to Haiti, with a view to contributing to the construction of this national grid.

While knowing that these 150 million will be insufficient to realize this ambitious project of the Head of State, Youri Latortue was nevertheless satisfied to have obtained this agreement of principle, that remains to be formalize.

n addition, Senator Latortue indicated that the total cost of this project of electrification of Haiti, which should be achieved in the next 20 months according to the press of the Head of State, will be known before the end of this year.
