Haiti - FLASH : Students of Maranatha Evangelical College in post-traumatic stress
Tuesday, following the anti-gang operation of November 13, in the area of Avenue Bolosse, near Martissant, which killed at least 7 civilians including a guardian and a teacher of "Maranatha Evangelical College" https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22728-haiti-security-the-ministry-deplores-the-bloody-incident-at-evangelical-college-maranatha.html as well as 2 agents of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22702-haiti-security-2-udmo-agents-fall-under-the-bullets.html ; Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education paid a visit of solidarity and evaluation to the Evangelical College of Maranatha on 4th Avenue in Bolosse.

Supporting the school staff and students, assessing the extent of the damage and helping them to consider were the main objectives of the Minister's visit, which was able to personally assess the trauma state of the students, especially toddlers, through their reactions and questions asked.

Most of the students remain affected by this violent event, others have not yet returned to school and some children refuse to go to the classroom without the permanent presence of a loved one...

After assessing the situation, Minister Cadet promised to provide psychosocial support to teachers and students to help them get rid of post-traumatic stress. In addition, he is waiting for the damage report for financial support to replace the destroyed or stolen equipment in the classrooms, the library and the computer lab, while the school was vandalized and looted during the police operation...

During his visit, Minister Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet was accompanied by Senators Jean Renel Cenatus, Dieupie Cherubin, of Deputy Pierre Julien Féquière; in the company of Pastor Sylvain Exantus, President of the Protestant Federation of Haiti, Jean Bilda Robert Pastor, Vice President of the Union of Evangelical Baptist Haiti (UEBH) and Me Osner Févry, one of the lawyers of the Evangelical Union.

He deplored once again that a school, a sanctuary for the training of young people, is the scene of events as bloody as those of November 13, while inviting each actor to work for a society, respectful of the values of respect on the other, solidarity and tolerance https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22728-haiti-security-the-ministry-deplores-the-bloody-incident-at-evangelical-college-maranatha.html

The Minister expressed his sympathies to the students and the staff of the school by inviting them to continue the work of education.
